When you stop to consider or observe the massive competition before you, you lose ground. Yes, you should be aware of the competition, but, never pause to watch them, for then you are behind already. Competition is inevitable, there are billions, billions, and billions of people on the Earth, each selling, for that is the only way to survive...
My perspective of competition is this: they remind me that I must, always, give the very best of myself, my services, my product, my creativity. That is as far as it goes for me. I might study trends and such, but, I do not pause to watch my competitor rush by me. I was a track star in High School, and fiercely competitive, until I realized that while I might be the fastest sprinter today, someone is going to come along shortly to leave me in the dust. If you stop and think about the competition, they, for sure, will leave you in the dust, for you are wasting time, and losing perspective of your OWN objectives, plus, the competition in this world is so staggering, you will begin to feel as if your contribution is aimless. So, do yourself a favor, and concentrate on what you do best, do it in the very best of your ability, and aim for repeat business instead of volume, for eventually, those loyal clients will lead you to more and more and more. Slow and steady with great results, is often more optimal than making it quickly, plus you have the added bonus of a solid reputation for quality, service, and product...
My endeavors are comprised on this thought: give the best of myself and my ability, making sure that what I offer is incomparable. That is my main focus. I do not have to sit and ponder the competition, for surely, no matter what, there is always going to be those who leave me in the dust, but, if I have given all I can, if I have built a loyal client base, if I have repeatedly given quality, then, I will remain in business despite a larger, faster growing competitor...
I use this ideology in every aspect of my life, for when I give the very best of myself, then I can rest assured that I have people who respect that, who will stand by me, and who will continue to come to me, for they know that my heart is in what I do, or give. I have seen the results, heard the praises, and have grown, albeit slowly; I have managed to survive against some very powerful competition, and that is as rewarding as it gets...
